A Universal 3D Glasses Standard May Be Forthcoming [Panasonic, Samsung, Sony, And Others Part Of A Coalition To Develop One Type Of 3D Glasses For All 3D Pictures – using Bluetooth]

A coalition of home theater product makers, including Panasonic, Samsung, Sony and Xpand, are looking to make one kind of 3D glasses for their various products. They want to standardize things like IR system protocols and the like, which means that, if you were to buy a Samsung 3D television and one day replace it with a Sony, you’d have a pair of 3D glasses already on hand to use with said television.

A big part of what’s driving the move is the use of Bluetooth connectivity, which will apparently give the four an edge in standardizing their glasses.
